Pillbugs get there name because they rollup into a tight ball when distrubed. Pillbugs are not insects but crustaceans. The adults are about 1/4-5/8 inch (7-15mm) long, convex about but flat or hollow beneath. They are slate gray. Typical of crustaceans, pillbugs have 7 pairs of similar legs.
